Travel to Spain - Montserrat for one day

Expert: Sílvia Martino - 10/31/2009

Question
Dear Silvia,
my name is Maria and I will be travelling to Barcelona in January. I will stay for almost 3 days and I would love to visit the monastery of Montserrat during this time. I was wondering how much do you need to travel from Barcelona to the monastery, spend there some time and come back? Can you make it in one day? Or is it even possible to make it in 6-7 hours, so I´ll still have some time to see Barcelona in the evening, when I return from Montserrat?
Than you very-very much for your answer in advance!
Best regards, Maria

Answer
Hi Maria,
Nice decision to go to Montserrat!!
it's one of the nicest places in Catalunya!!!
If you are alone, maybe the best way is to take a guided tour to Montserrat, it's a 4hours tour, so you will have plenty of time left to visit barcelona.
you'll find more information at:
http://www.barcelona-on-line.es/barcelona-tours/montserrat_tour_eng.html
It's 40 euros per person and there are explanations in english.
Where are you staying in Barcelona? need a tip on a nice hotel? or budget accommodation? If you need more information, just let me know,
thanks,
Sílvia
