I live in Madrid, and travel frequently to Valencia. I have also travelled to many places all over spain, if haven't been there i'd try to help anyway providing my knowledge and links. I enjoy trekking in the mountains, and know pyrinees, Picos de Europa and mountains in the center.

Travel to Spain - Salamanca to Valencia

Expert: Víctor Díaz - 10/17/2009

Question
Hi,

I noticed that you go to Valencia from Madrid often, do you know what kind of transportation I would take from Salamanca to Valencia?

Thanks!

Answer
Hello Maria

Whatever public transport you choose (bus or train) the travel is via Madrid.
You must get first to Madrid
By train: with Renfe several regional trains daily
takes almost 3h and cost around 18,45. Arrives to Madrid-Chamartin station
http://www.renfe.es/

By bus: with AvanzaBus
http://www.avanzabus.com
express service takes 2h30 and cost 21,15
normal service takes and 3h and cost 14,80
arrives to Madrid Estacion Sur Autobuses

Madrid-Valencia------------
by train, Alaris takes 3h45 and cost 45,20 there are Web and Star offers available, check the day of your travel. There are also regional type trains that cost half but takes too many hours.
Departure of Alaris is from Chamartin station (with stop at Atocha-Cercanias before leaving Madrid)

by bus again with Avanza
express takes around 4h and cost 32.50 and normal service takes 4h30 and cost 26,32
departure station is Madrid Estacion Sur Autobuses

I would choose bus+bus or train+train so you avoid moving in madrid from bus to the train station, not difficult but a bit unconfortable.
If you have a tight budget choose bus, else choos trains as are more confortable, Alarais MAdrid-Valencia are quite good.

I hope this helps.
