Question
Could you please tell me if it possible to travel from Cordoba to Merida by train in une 2010, or other public transport.

Answer
Hello Paul

There are no direct trains, you have two options, via Sevilla or via Puertollano.
Via Sevilla i have found several options, these are the best in my opinion
02120   AVE    13:44    14:30   SEVILLA SANTA JUSTA
18779   REGIONAL   15:50   20:05 MERIDA
you will wat 1h10 for the second train

02130   AVE    14:52    15:35   SEVILLA SANTA JUSTA
18779   REGIONAL   15:50   20:05 MERIDA
only 25minutes for the second train but AVE high speed trains use to be very punctual.

Via Puertollano
02093   AVE    09:59    10:40   PUERTOLLANO
18770   REGIONAL   11:32   14:57 MERIDA
you will have to waut 50 minutes in Pertollano

09317   ALVIA    10:47    11:29   PUERTOLLANO
18770   REGIONAL   11:32   14:57 MERIDA
very little time to get the second train, a few minutes of delay and you lost it.

i'm sorry but at the moment of writing this answer the renfe site wan't working properly
http://www.renfe.es

by bus
with Alsa, means heading to Sevilla then change bus after waiting for two hours and changing also station of buses in Sevilla, from Prado de S Sebastian to Plaza de Armas bus statio.
CORDOBA     MERIDA     07:36    14:05   cost:23,13  daily

I think that the train option here is better, i like the most this option
02130   AVE    14:52    15:35   SEVILLA SANTA JUSTA
18779   REGIONAL   15:50   20:05 MERIDA

I hope this helps.

I live in Madrid, and travel frequently to Valencia. I have also travelled to many places all over spain, if haven't been there i'd try to help anyway providing my knowledge and links. I enjoy trekking in the mountains, and know pyrinees, Picos de Europa and mountains in the center.
