Question
Is there a direct bus service from Santander to Malaga  perhaps via Madrid ? Do you know the bus times, please.
I realize it will be a long journey but that is OK.

Answer
Hello Margaret

es it's a very long journey.
There isn't any direct bus, but you can do the trip via madrid

First a bus to Madrid from Santander bus station
http://www.santandereabus.com/eng/default_e.asp
notice cantabria is the name of the region, you can search the location of the santander (city and capital of Cantabria) bus station.

With Alsa
http://www.alsa.es/portal/site/Alsa/

you have several buses daily some arriving to MADR-E.SUR meaning Madrid-Estacion Sur autobuses (which is the main station for long distance buses), others finish or stop previously at MADR-A.AME meaning Madrid-Avenida de America which is an underground bus and metro station.

Estacion Sur web site.

Malaga buses with Daibus
http://www.daibus.es/cicero/index.html
purchasing tickets online in Daibus site is via  Movelia
http://www.movelia.es/
if you follow the steps to purchase a ticket you will be redirecte to this site. Many medium/small bus compnies use Movelia for internet sales.

bus station at Malaga

Departure station Madrid-Malaga is Estacion Sur autobuses, located at Mendez alvaro metro station. It will be better to choose a bus ending at that station, but if it is not possible and you choose one ending at Avenida de America, take the metro L6 heading to M.Alvaro and in about 20 minutes you will be there. One single ride ticket cost 1 euro.

I hope this helps.

I live in Madrid, and travel frequently to Valencia. I have also travelled to many places all over spain, if haven't been there i'd try to help anyway providing my knowledge and links. I enjoy trekking in the mountains, and know pyrinees, Picos de Europa and mountains in the center.
