Question Hello,
Our family of 8 will be renting a villa in Toledo for Dec. 27-Jan. 3. We have a few questions:
1) How far are the ski slopes from Toledo(Either by train or car)
2) What is the weather generally like during this time of the year
3) What day trips would you suggest
Thanks for your help!
Answer Hello Carlos
1-Nearest ski slopes are Navacerrada ski station at Madrid. It's small, and the parking there is also tiny and that causes many traffic problems. The good thing, you can get there by train.
Next to Navacerrada is Valdesqui, also in Madrid province, have better installations, slopes and snow conditions, nearest train station is Cotos.
But in fact the nearest ski 'slope' is at Xanadu commercial center at Arroyomolinos (Madrid), and indoor small ski slope open all over the year (and shops also open everyday, even holydays). http://www.madridxanadu.com http://www.madridsnowzone.com/index.php
It's about 70km from Toledo (50minutes)
2-weather is normally cold and dry, cold specially by night, by day temperatures may be even a bit warm. There will be snow in the mountains, almost for sure, i can remember a few years ago a terrbile lack of snow and ski resorts in the center of spain had to use artificial snow, but normally there is enough snow at the end of december.
3-From toledo i recommend Madrid, by car or train
Also Consuegra (by car)
And via madrid --> Segovia, El Escorial, Avila
