I live in Madrid, and travel frequently to Valencia. I have also travelled to many places all over spain, if haven't been there i'd try to help anyway providing my knowledge and links. I enjoy trekking in the mountains, and know pyrinees, Picos de Europa and mountains in the center.

Question
My daughter is a student, and has to travel from Ronda to Valencia on Friday 14th August, what is the best way, is there a bus to Granada and then an overnight train? What times are these and what is the cost, I will be in Malaga next week and I would like to organise this for her.

Answer
Hello Susan

Probably the easiest and best way to get to Valencia from Ronda is via Granada.
http://www.turismoderonda.es/

Of course there are more options and combinations, via Sevilla, via Malaga... you may explore them using the information at the Ronda tourism site and Renfe and Alsa sites.

There is a direct train line from ronda to Granada, with regional type trains.

http://www.renfe.es/

with the following 3 trains on day 14th of august
type of train/nr of train/departure/arrival/cost
R. EXPRESS 13063     08.57   11.33     12.85 €
R. EXPRESS 13077    14.11    16.49    12.85 €
R. EXPRESS 13065    17.35    20.17    12.85 €

From Granada to Valencia you have an overnight train on day 14th, there are two trains on day 15th, one early in the morning and the same overnight train
For the 14th of august train
train /departure/arrival to valencia
TRENHOTEL 00894      21.55      05.05
tourist (seated) 48.60 €  Star offer 29.20 €
First (seated) Not available
Tourist couchette 74.70 € Star offer 44.80 €
etc..
there are available Estrella and Web offers only available by purchasing online with interesting discounts.

What i see is that she will arrive too early to Valencia at 5am.
I recommend to book this as day 14th of august is a day chosen by many people to travel, and more as it is friday.

Bus option
from Granada with Alsa
http://www.alsa.es
there are several buses daily.

From the train station she will have to get to the bus station, i recommend a taxi as they are far from each other.

There is one leaving at 22:30 and arrives at 7am and cost 41,88.

In Valencia train station is right in the center of the city, by Xativa metro station.
Bus station is near Turia metro station.

I hope this helps
