I live in Madrid, and travel frequently to Valencia. I have also travelled to many places all over spain, if haven't been there i'd try to help anyway providing my knowledge and links. I enjoy trekking in the mountains, and know pyrinees, Picos de Europa and mountains in the center.

Question
My daughter and three friends are travelling to La Tomatina on 24th august.  they are flying in to alicante airport - are there trains/buses they can book from the airport to valencia?

thank you

Answer
Hello Bernadette

As far as i know there is no direct bus (no train station at alicante airport) to Valencia from that airport

these are the bus options
http://www.aena.es/csee/Satellite?Language=EN_GB&MO=1&SMO=1&SiteName=ALC&c=Page&...

Using Alsa site a
http://www.alsa.es
and setting origin ---> start writing 'alicante' and will show you the option of 'aeropuerto alicante' and destiantion ' valencia'
there seems to be many buses, bit all of them are not direct buses but you need to change bus at Benidorm. It's not a bad option.

Other options are via Alicante.

To get to Alicante first using the Subus line
http://www.subus.es/index.asp

choose 'aeropuerto' and 'c6'

stop at  Av. Elche Nº 92 - Estación Tren ---> local train station, not the main of alicante
http://www.renfe.es/cercanias/murcia/index_horarios.html

stop at  C/ Reyes Católicos Nº 23  --> not far from bus station (but not sure if there is other stop closer)

stop at   Pza. Luceros Nº 2 - 4  --> not far from alicante main station

i'm not 100% sure of the best stops for the bus and train station, i have found them using google maps and following the stops of the line.

From Alicante to VAlencia by bus, with Alsa
http://www.alsa.es/portal/site/Alsa/
there are many buses daily, from 18,15euros, takes about 2h30 the supra service with only a couple of stops in the middle, the rest have many stops along the way and takes a lot of time in my opinion.

By train
http://www.renfe.es/index.html
choose 'alacant-terminal' as origin you have several type of trains, are faster than buses and cost from 12.85 the slowest to about 27.30 for the fastest one.

I hope this helps.
