Hi could you tell me please the easiest way to get to valencia airport from torrevieja
we have friends comig from montana usa and they intend flying back to usa from

Initially i thought you that you refered to how to get to Valencia from Torrevieja by public transport. Now i think is how to get there by car. If you need to check also how to get there by public transport let me know and i may seek it for you, i anticipate there is no direct link and any connection is via Alicante.
for the first time i disagree abit avoid this route, may be the reccomended and shortest and quickest, but it's not the easiest. This route involves changing several times of highway. using an small stretch of road between two higways and finally using V30 ring in Valencia to get to the airport. All these changes and the fact that i know V30 and it's currently under some works and with not very good signaling makes it a bit confussing for someone not used to drive in Spain.
In this case i recommend taking AP7 by the coast at Torrevieja up to A3 exit in the by-pass of Valencia, marked as 508, heading to Valencia, the exit to airport is well marked and not to far from that exit. Note AP7 may change the name to A7 when is free of tolls (Peaje in spanish)
This route is longer, more expensive (tolls) and probably takes some more time, but not too much more and only implies one change of highway, is very easy.

You are right, i forgot to give you the time required for that travel.
The original route given by ViaMichelin is 224km and takes 2h25 and no tolls.
My route via AP7 all the way are 268km and takes 2h56, cost 13,25 in tolls (all aproximately).
choosing 'alicante' as origin and as destination 'aeropuerto valencia' that will be shown as you start writing 'valencia'
there are the following direct buses
ALICANTE VALENC.AIR 07:30 10:45 21,40 (only sundays)
ALICANTE VALENC.AIR 09:30 12:35 21,40 LMXJV (monday to friday)
ALICANTE VALENC.AIR 09:30 12:30 21,40 40,65 (only saturdays)
ALICANTE VALENC.AIR 15:30 18:35 21,40 40,65 LMXJV (monday to friday)
and there are many more to valencia bus station. It's also an option since from there they can take a taxi to the airport or use a nearby metro station (turia) to get there.
