Traveling with Children - Bahamas cruise

Expert: Pam Smith - 10/19/2009

Question
My friend just told me about a cruise line she's found called--Bahamas Celebration. We've never heard of them and I'm wondering if it's #1-safe, #2-decent, #3-worth a try.

I've sailed about 6 times in the Caribbean on lower to mid class ships with both Carnival(which I dislike) and Royal Caribbean (favorite). I've been to the Bahamas 3 times and only want to go back to take my children to Atlantis to see the aquarium. My children have sailed once before but haven't been to the Bahamas.
Your insight would be greatly appriecated.
Thanks, Nichole

Answer
This cruise line is not certified by the Cruise Line Industry (CLIA) that certifies the major cruiselines.  This is a very budget minded cruiseline.  So if you don't mind budget accomadations, food and service than this cruise will be fine for you.  However if you are used to Carnival and Royal Caribbean you will be very dissapointed.  My advise, is stick with one of these two cruiselines as you have the backing of CLIA and travel agents.

If your only goal is to see Atlantis, you may want to consider a land vacation and stay at Comfort Suites Paradise Island.  This property has full exchange privleges with Atlantis without the high cost of staying there. You and your family will not only be able to "See" this wonderful resort, but you can also play there as well!   What better way to experience the resort than to be able to see all there is to see and enjoy the waterparks as well!

If you would like assitance with your vacation I encourage you to contact a travel agent in your area or you may contact me as I have clients all over the country and I would be glad to assist you.  Working with a travel agent does not cost you any more than if you booked it yourself, plus you get their experience and expertise that you won't get with large impersonal travel websites.
