I live in Elkhorn City.  I know the man who found the coin.  I have one.  It was in a cave in Pine Mountain.

I think this story is in TH books - Swift had a tavern and another business and slaves and a relative/business partner.  He heard the Yankees were coming during the Civil War.  He loaded up his money in a cart, had a slave boy help him haul it across the river up into the mountains, then killed the slave boy there to keep the location a secret, came back home, told his business partner the money was stolen by soldiers, or something like that, and was later killed.  Location lost.
