Question My laceleaf Japanese Red Maple leaves are browning on the tips. First they brown on the tips then it spreads to the full leaf till it dies and falls off. Can you give me any help to save this tree. thank you
bob
Answer Sounds like it lacks water. Water with 1 inch per week-place a pan under the tree and turn the sprinkler on and when the pan has 1 inch of water in it stop. Do this if it does not rain. Also mulch around the tree with not more than 3 inches deep of organic mulch not piled up on the trunk.
It possibly be herbicide damage IF you have used a lawn fertilizer called Weed and feed this contains a herbicide that will damage trees. But I would think it is the lack of water.
