Question I had a willow in my back yard that destroyed my septic system. We replaced the system in April and cut the tree down last month.I have been putting round up on the stump and cutting any shoots that appear but will the little fine roots (looks like long black hair)continue to grow through the ground into my new system.I will be getting rid of the stump next summer but am i safe untill then?
Answer There are several products that can be added to the septic tank and lines that will kill the roots in the lines. One of these is rootX Another is Roebic K-77 Root Killer or Roebic Foaming Root Killer (FRK). You may want to call a plumbing company and ask them what to use or maybe a company that installs septic tanks. Here are the web link to these products. I have no experience with either of these.
