Triumph Repair - GT6 6 MK 3 WINDSCREEN WIPERS

Expert: Howard M. Fitzcharles III - 6/13/2008

Question
QUESTION: THE GT6 MK 3 THAT I JUST BOUGHT THE PASSENGER WIPER WAS MISSING,FITTED NEW ONE 12" ,BUT FOUND THE SWEEP ACROSS THE WINDSCREEN WAS TAKING THE WIPER BLADE OFF THE WINDSCREEN,THE DRIVERS SIDE IS NO PROBLEM ,DO YOU THINK THE FAULT IS IN A WORN RACK CABLE ON THE PASSENGERS SIDE OR WIPER WHEELBOX I TAKE IT BOTH WIPER BLADES ARE IDENTICAL.I LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR REPLY
JIM

ANSWER: Hi Jim,
If the one blade is ok and the other is off, just remove the arm and blade that is off and operate the wipers one time and let them cancel. Then install the wiper arm with the blade on it to get it in the correct position. Yes, both blades are the same.

QUESTION: Thanks or your reply, but I think the travel is too much on the rack cable ,whether his is adustable or not ,or jusy worn Thanks
Jim

Answer
Jim, unless someone has replaced one of the wheel boxes with one from some other kind of car they both operate from a single cable to each wheel box and each wheel box has the same gear on it and thus both have the exact same degrees of movement. There is no way to alter them to wipe further than they are designed to move. You either have the wrong arm, blade or arm positioning. The wheel boxes are not adjustable in any way.
