Question
I have 1972 tr6 triumph dist problem it is busting the rotors bottons, i'll put one in it will fire and run great then i'll shut down the engine it does fire again, i'll l@@k under the cap (((busted again))  please help or tell me where to get new elecronic dist unit......

Answer
Hi Tinker,
For a rotor to hit anything the rotor must slip up off the shaft, or the shaft move up or sideways. So first look at the inside of the rotor to see that the spring clip is in there and that when the rotor is pushed onto the shaft it is snug and not loose. Look in the cap to see where the rotor hits the cap. Is it the correct cap? Check for any free play up and down or sideways in the shaft. If the shaft has side to side movement then the bearings are worn out and it needs to be rebuilt or replaced.

You should be able to get a replacement at one of the many British car parts suppliers like,  The Roadster Factory, Moss Motors, Victoria British, Engel Imports or British Parts North West. They all have web sites and toll free numbers.

Howard
