Question I have a 1980 Triumph Spitfire 1500. How do you install the bushings on the front wishbone arms? I bought the front suspension major rebuild kit, and I don't know whether grease or WD40 would harm the rubber or not. Also having a terrible time removing one of the bolts. Any thoughts or techniques on that? I suppose these have been untouched for almost 30 years.
Answer Hi Tom,
I have seen mechanics lube the bushing with everything from white grease to silicone grease when assembling. I prefer the silicone grease.
If you are talking about that lower wishbone bolt, it goes through a steel sleeve and is prone to rusting to the bolt thus making it difficult to drive out.
