Triumph Repair - Horn/High Beam Flash/Hazzard Lights

Expert: Howard M. Fitzcharles III - 8/11/2008

Question
My horn, High Beam Flasher and Hazard lights on my 79 Spitfire stopped working at the same time.  I was moving the wiring at the front of the hood at the time.  I have looked at the exterior fuse and it appears to be ok.  I am also unable to locate the horn relay.  My question is could the switch on the steering column be the problem.  I hate to replace something that expensive if not needed and I am totally at sea when it comes to wiring.  Thanks for your assistance.

Answer
Hi Wally,
All of the items you lost are powered by the one fuse with all the purple wires on one end. Looking at a fuse is not a method to test a fuse nor it's connection. Test both ends of the fuse and the fuse holder and the wire ends with a 12v test light or a volt meter.
Howard
