Question Scott I park my 1972 tr6 about 1 1/2 year ago and it started right up but it would not go into gear when the car was running. If I turn it off it would go into any gear. I have rebuilt the clutch slave and it seems to work fine, I never had a problem before parking the car. I will go into rev. to grind the gears. do you have any ideas for me
Thanks John
Answer I would suspect that the clutch is not releasing from the flywheel and pressure plate. If it was damp at the time you parked it, the whole assembly may have rusted together, and pressing on the clutch is not releasing the clutch disk. This would explain why it goes into gear when off (no tension on the drive train) and not when running (too much motion, or not a full release of the clutch to allow the syncros to mesh the gears.
The other option is that your release mechanism may not be traveling far enough to release the clutch disk.
