Subject: Replating inner slides

Question
The plating of the inner slides of my old Conn 32H is worn. Is replating a good alternative or do I need to buy new tubes?
In other words does replating work fine?
Please reply to twilightbone@yahoo.com or quinoneshlr@libertypr.net

Answer
Hi Luis,

It's very difficult to successfully replate slide tubes. First, you have to remove the old plating, which can sometimes damage the tubes underneath. It's a lot easier to replace the tubes, and your repair technician should be able to get the right size tubes (.500 and .522) from a few different sources and cut them to the right length (if need be) to fit your 32H.

I hope that answers your question. If you need further help, please don't hesitate to ask.
