Trombone - Looking for a Contra-Bass trombone
Expert: Colin Murray - 11/3/2009
Question Hi, I'm looking for a 'double' bass trombone under $2000. I'd like to have something American made, Bach comes to mind, and if it's used I would need it to be in good condition. I can't afford any repairs.
Answer Hi Brandon,
I assume you're talking about a two-valve bass trombone, not a contrabass. If so, you may get lucky and find a Bach 50B2 or 50B3 on Ebay for under $2000, and even at that, you may have to pay for some repairs. You should also consider a Holton, Getzen or Yamaha if you're looking for a good bass trombone at a reasonable price.
If you're really talking about a contrabass, you're not likely to touch one for under $4000 (and that would be for a Miraphone).
Hope that helps,
Colin Murray
