Question
Hi I transplanted my palm the other day and I am not sure what kind of palm but it is not a majesty palm I know that it has spikes on the inside of the big fan like part??? Anyways I moved it like three feet up away from my fence where it was because it was getting so big and it seems to be really limp and looks like it may be dying I am so sad because it was doing so good a new piece is coming out of the top and it seems ok what should i do to help it

Answer
Hi Leah,it sounds like a Washingtonia or a Paurotis, but I would need to see it to be sure; in either event, did you get the entire root ball when you dug it up, it sounds like transplant shock which usually occurs when the roots are disturbed during transplant. Give it time to recoup and I am sure you watered it, but don't overdo the watering at this point, for it needs to regenerate growth; keep it from drying out but don't saturate it. Mother Nature will take over from here, watch then center spear, it will be the new growth you will be looking for, the other fronds may brown out, if they do just snip them off. Thats all you can do at this point..good luck Nick
