Truck Repair - injector pump

Expert: Waheed Shittu - 6/3/2009

Question
i have a big cam cummings that has sat for a few years it starts right up and runs fine but it wont throttle up i had the same problem on a tractor it was a "valve of sorts"on the pump itself could this be the same problem and if so where is it or what do you think would cause the problem THANK YOU

Answer
If your injection pump is manual PT pump, check the throttle cable adjustment to be sure of its effect on the pump throttle shaft.
If ok, then you need to recalibrate the fuel pump.

If it is electronic throttle check the fault code indicator and have it analysed by a competent cummins mechanic using Insite or compulink.

Cheers.
