i would say you may pulled a faulty cluster from the donor possibly. i have swapped a cluster on the same truck. the gauges do pop out with one finger so it might solve your problem by just switching the fuel gauge.

had the same prob with my fuel gauge.I just removed the cover an swapped the gauge .Think there might be something in the ECM ...
