A diesel has an axuillary vacume pump that is prone to failure.My 86 ford 6.9 has failed 3 times in 5 years.NOTE* diesels make NO vacume,the pump makes it for you.

Early Ford 6.9 Diesels use an auxilliary pump
(mounted just above the manual fuel pump on
passenger side front of engine ) to give vaccum
pressure for brake booster as aside a typical
diesel engine has no vaccum pressure .
