Question
Dear Andy

Can Tractors have CNG as Fuel System?.

Thanks
Prashant

Answer
Hello Preshant;

Absolutely yes.   United Parcel Service ( UPS) already does this with Compressed Natural Gas.     CNG is a refrigerated liquid so it takes  special fueling stations , the typiocal  truck power drops off about 20%  but CNG it is cheaper in the long run.

The initial cost of a typical new truck tractor of $150,000 is increased to $200,000 when it is a CNG unit. It may take 4 years of operation to recoup your extra initial costs.  Right now in the US , there are about 2,000 CNG refueling stations.  You would have to plan a long trip to be sure you can get fuel along the way.

Hope this helps,

Andy
