Question
Just wondering how to get started into hot shot hauling. I've heard alot about it but dont know who to talk to or how to get ahold of them. I would just like to find out as much information about it as i could.

Answer
Hi Jason,

I would first suggest looking at some of my previous answers.  I've answered a lot of Hot Shot questions and that can be of help.

The first few things you need to look at is what type of equipment do you want to run, where do you want to run and do you want to start your own company or lease out to a company?  This will set up the foundation for your next moves.

There are plenty of forums on the web where other Hot Shot drivers can help you along.  Sites like www.thetruckersreport.com and www.classadrivers.com have forums where you can get a wealth of information.

Since your new in the business, I would suggest leasing out to a company.  Jones Motor Freight is one of the largest Hot Shot companies in the U.S.  They are at www.jonesmotor.com.  If nothing else, you can call them and get information on their requirements.

Finally, if you live anywhere near Louisville, the Mid-America Trucking Show is March 22-24.  This is the largest Trucking show in America and well worth the trip.  Every aspect of trucking is presented at this show.  There are numerous seminars that are excellent in showing you how to successfully operate your business (or just succeed in trucking).  It will really help you.  Visit their web site at www.truckingshow.com.

If you have any more specifics, feel free to ask.

Welcome to trucking, and good luck!
