Question I am in the process of starting a hot-shot business in Houston, Tx. I am looking for a reputable freight agent/broker to help find work for my trucks in the Houston area. How can I find a good agent, and what should I look for in a good agent?
Thanks,
Eric Johnson
Answer Hi Eric.
I go to sites like www.getloaded.com to find loads, sometimes. It's easy because they have the brokers credit rating right there with the load. I only pull loads with a rating of 80 or higher. Once you pull a few loads, you'll find out who the good brokers are. Also, talk with other drivers in your area. You can get a feel for most brokers fairly quick. The ones that will screw you sound pretty shady on the phone and are small operations. The bigger ones are pretty good, but find out how fast they pay.
