I drove a car carrier for 15 years and now I am the West Coast Fleet Director for an auto transport company based out of Southern California. The maximum allowed height in most states is 14 feet. There are a few midwest and east coast states that limit your height to 13'6".

As a company driver, you should not be financially responsible for cargo damage. If your boss requires you to pay for cargo damage, it's time to look for employment elsewhere.
