Trucking - fuel costs

Expert: Bob Stephens - 5/12/2007

Question
if i run only regionally, say two or three ststes, with a single axl tractor and a 5 or6 car hauler, will this cut my fuel costs? what about leasing onto a company for breaks on all the insurance(truck and trailer)?

Answer
Charlie,

It's all relative.  Running regionally will cut fuel costs, but will also cut income.  Leasing on is a great way to go.  Not only will most companies help on insurance, but they find you the loads.  Helps you keep running and less paperwork.  Talk with other hot shot car haulers and see which company is good in your area.
