About Mike Pawul
Expertise I am familiar with most trumpets, cornets, and flugelhorns. I can answer most questions about playing and musicality. Best of all, if I can't answer it directly I play regularly in five bands and have several "old timers" that are familiar with most things that I am not. I collect, repair, and refinish old horns and have sold over 350 with more than 230 on ebay
Experience I have played since 1965 and studied with many directors and trumpeters. I have been collecting since 2002 and have over 150 horns in my personal collection. I have done repair and refinsh since 2003 and have done over 500 horns.

Question We just bought a Director Trumpet Conn. limited 18B and the serical number is S27690, I read your other answer to some bodies elses questions about the same type of trumpet and thought you might give me some information about mine,we got ours at a Goodwill and only paid $15.00.
Answer Sandra, The S serial number was used in 1973 when Conn was building their horns in Abilene Texas and some were being made by Yamaha in Japan. The 18B is a good horn and follows the Director line. Every time they make changes in the horn it generates a new number and started at the 14B in 1954. The 18B is still a smaller bore and is easier for a beginner to play. They have good intonation and are built solid. At $15 you got a great deal since they typically go for over $100 in good shape. Since you got it used I would have it chem cleaned and have the corks and felts checked.
