Question I have purchased a new pocket trumpet on line and cannot unscrew the bottom valve cap on valve 2
Answer Is it a real name brand instrument or something cheap from the far east? Have you tried making a complaint to the seller? It may be that it was over-tightened at the factory or it may have a piece of scrap brass caught in the threads. It also may have been improperly threaded in the first place if it is from somewhere with poor quality control. IF you really want to remove it, you could attempt to do so but very carefully. I would recommend wrapping a thick rubber strip around it to get a better grip. You COULD use pliers or similar tools to grip it through the rubber strip but be careful not to squeeze the cap too hard or you could bend the valve casing out of round and be much worse off than just having a stuck bottom cap! If you have a reliable repair person in your area they are always the best to consult on these matters. Good luck.
