Trumpet - refinishing my horn

Expert: Vikrant Singh Badwal - 10/12/2009

Question
Hey, I'm a Junior in high school and I have a Bach Strad. Most of the silver around my valves is gone and I want to get it refinished. At the most, how much would that cost? (It's a model 25)

Answer
Hi Claire,

I know that replating/relaquering an entire trumpet is somewhere between $500 to $800. I am not sure what the going rate is for just the valves. I would suggest leaving it alone and decide later when most of the lacquer on the horn is gone.

Good Luck.
