Question Hi. I play the trumpet in my high school band and I have some questions.
1.) What are some ways I can fix my lip placement on the mouthpiece? (I can't remember how to spell the correct term.)
2.) Should I invest in private lessons?
3.)What are some things i can do to increase my speed. (Such as tonguing and moving my fingers.)
4.) What are some breathing exercises I can use to increase my lung capacity?
Answer Hi,
I would recommend a couple of Books for Tonguing and Lung Capacity
H.L Clark Technical Studies-In this Book you will learn Technical Skills
(This Book is Study of Chromatics and will help you with Fingering)
Arban Book-This is the Bible for Trumpet Player-Helps Greatly in Tonguing and also the breathing
In reguard to "lip placement" make sure you keep your Trumpet up enough when practicing
Keeping your Trumpet in the Same Upright Position will help greatly when practicing.
Ya-Finding a Teacher would be excellent idea-Maybe somebody at the university
SIncerely
