Trumpet - Harry Pedler trumpet

Expert: Mike Pawul - 5/28/2009

Question
I noticed that you have some knowledge of the Harry Pedler "American Triumph" trumpet. I understand it's not worth much, which is perfect since it is in my middle school band inventory. The trumpet works just fine, but I can not find a mouthpiece to fit it. The modern trumpet mouthpieces don't go in far enough and the Bach 3c cornet mouthpiece goes in too far.

Where do I find a mouthpiece to fit it?

Answer
Erin, Is it a trumpet or cornet? If it is a trumpet the shank should be the same as a modern Bach. If it is a cornet it will take a short shank mouthpiece. Yamaha uses a short shank and Bach has them. They are a bit larger diameter than a current cornet mouthpiece.
