Question
I have a King Trumpet Model #2006, purchased mid 1980s.

What can you tell me about this instrument and is it a student / intermediate or professional model?

Answer
David, Just before King was purchased by UMI in 1985 they made a new line of Silver Flair horns. The 2006 was the ML version and the 2007 was the Large bore model. They were only made for a few years from 1983-1984. I think they play as well as the older 1055 Flair and better than the newer 2055 Flair. The older Flair and the 2006 are both pro horns. The newer 2055 is an intermediate level at best. The 2006 used a new tempering process (for King) that was much like the Benge Resno Temper process. It made the bell resonate better and that translated in a better overall sound. Overall they are great horns.

Expertise

I am familiar with most trumpets, cornets, and flugelhorns. I can answer most questions about playing and musicality. Best of all, if I can't answer it directly I play regularly in several bands and have many "old timers" that are familiar with most things that I am not. I collect, repair, and refinish old horns and have sold over 600 with more than 400 on ebay

Experience

I have played since 1965 and studied with many directors and trumpeters. I have been collecting since 2002 and have over 150 horns in my personal collection. I have done repair and refinsh since 2003 and have done work on over 900 horns.
