Expertise
I am familiar with most trumpets, cornets, and flugelhorns. I can answer most questions about playing and musicality. Best of all, if I can't answer it directly I play regularly in five bands and have several "old timers" that are familiar with most things that I am not. I collect, repair, and refinish old horns and have sold over 350 with more than 230 on ebay

Experience
I have played since 1965 and studied with many directors and trumpeters. I have been collecting since 2002 and have over 150 horns in my personal collection. I have done repair and refinsh since 2003 and have done over 500 horns.

Question
Hi There, I have a trumpet that I would like to find out a ball park figure for sale.  I have not found the exact thing on ebay or Craig's list and wonder if you can help me.  On the bell it says "CLEVELAND-Superior-Made by King Craftmen-The HN White Co.-Cleveland, Ohio.  The serial number on it is #196726.  I assume this is a student trumpet as my brother played it in the 70s for Jr High School, I think.  Can you please let me know what range I can sell it for?  Thank you so much!  Cathie :-)

Answer
Cathie, Sorry for the delay but I have been working a lot of hours and haven't had time to get here and answer questions. The Superior is a good intermediate level horn and was one of the King horns under H N White. Your horn dates about 1965 right before King moved from Cleveland Ohio to Eastlake Ohio (a suburb of Cleveland). The value depends on the wear to the finish and valves, dents and scratches, and work needed to make it into top playing shape again. A range is $50-200 depending on the above.
