AboutMike Pawul Expertise I am familiar with most trumpets, cornets, and flugelhorns. I can answer most questions about playing and musicality. Best of all, if I can't answer it directly I play regularly in five bands and have several "old timers" that are familiar with most things that I am not. I collect, repair, and refinish old horns and have sold over 350 with more than 230 on ebay
Experience I have played since 1965 and studied with many directors and trumpeters. I have been collecting since 2002 and have over 150 horns in my personal collection. I have done repair and refinsh since 2003 and have done over 500 horns.

Question I have an OLDS Ambassador Fullerton Calif. Brass trumpet, it has original case and mouthpiece. I was given it close to 20 years ago by a retired musician, I only played it for 5 of those years. I would like it valued for insurance purposes but if I received a good offer I might consider selling it. There is a serial number along the middle valve if this is any help: 963064. There are minor scratches/ marks but the trumpet is in full working order and has no bumps or dents. If you can help me please contact me. Thanks.
Answer David, Your horn dates to 1976 and is almost at the end of Old's existence in Fullerton. The Ambassador is a great horn and would be hard to replace for under $1000. So use the replacement value for insurance purposes. Actual value for resale is about $150-300. There are still lots of them out there and they don't sell for tremendous amounts.
