Question
I have an very old Selmer inc. / Bundy cornet and it plays very well. I would like to receive some information about this cornet.

I can not find the production year by the serialnumber.

SN = 49263 and valve's are numbered:   1 / 2 / 3 + 263 on each valve

2 waterkeys, mouthpiece holder = silver plated + valve holders halve silver plated.

Can you give me all the information about the cornet you can find please ?

Answer
There is not a lot of information available about these instruments. George Bundy worked for H&A Selmer and after WWII decided to produce his own line of instruments, which where then marketed and sold by Selmer. There are no decent serial number lists, but five digits implies earlier manufacture, and a decent quality instrument.

What you think are silver-plated parts are actually made from nickel-silver, a brass alloy commonly used in this period.

I can answer your questions about Buescher trumpets and cornets. I have been playing Buescher for 35 years and collecting for 7.

Experience

I first started playing my grandfather's Buescher 400 trumpet in 1975. Since then I have done a lot of research, including original catalogs and advertisements that I own, correspondence with other Buescher owners, and obtaining my own Buescher collection, including six trumpets and three cornets.

Education/Credentials
I am a technical writer with 15 years experience. I have also been playing trumpet since 1975 and collecting Buescher for the past 7 years.
