Subject: check issued to estate of my Mother
Question I have received a check payable to Estate of my mother..I am an only son with my mothers will leaving all or anything to me. When she passed I had power of attorney. The check that I have received I tried to deposit to my account and the bank said they could not deposit to my account..What to do??
Answer You need to probate the will, and then get yourself appointed administrator/executor of the estate. Then you will be able to deposit the check into an account for the estate that you set up. Depending upon where you live you will then need to follow the process to distribute assets of the estate and then close the estate.
Get an attorney. Good luck.
