Turkey/Do I need a residents permit?

Question
Hi Vicky, you very kindly recommended a removal company in Turkey to bring my belongings back to England..they WERE very expensive though.
Although I have rented an apartment in Turkey for 5 years, the last 3 of those have been spent back here in England. Whilst living in Turkey I did have  aresidents permit, obviously as I've not lived there in so long, I don't have oe anymore. Do I need a valid residents permit in order to ship my things back to the UK?

Answer
Hi Gill,

I'm waiting for someone to get back to me on this as I'm not sure. Turkish regulations logic tells me that yes, you would need the residency to export but I'd rather get confirmation from someone who really knows before I say either way. I'll let you know asap.

I have worked in Tourism, PR and property consultancy in the Bodrum area since 1995 and am presently involved in assisting foreigners with a wide range of legal matters via an established firm. A year spent in Istanbul in 2002-03 followed by regular trips means I can also provide some assistance in that area too.
