Question
Hi, I am an Indian and have just received residence permit of Turkey. My mom also came with me to Istanbul on a tourist visa. She got her tourist visa for 30 days and I want to extend it. I checked with the indian embassy in Istanbul and they say i need to goto the foreign office in vatan caddesi. Is there a way to contact them over email to know the documents and fees required before I go there?

Answer
Hi,

That's correct, you have to apply in person to Foreign Office of the Police (Yabancilar Subesi) at Vatan street in Aksaray district, Istanbul. You can see some information about resident permits at their website http://yabancilar.iem.gov.tr/ikamet2.html . And here you can see the costs: http://yabancilar.iem.gov.tr/harc.GIF (AYLAR means MONTH, HARC means COST), so you have to bring that amount of money in cash with you. You also have to fill in an application document (not by handwriting, it has to be filled with computer), just download the form at http://yabancilar.iem.gov.tr/form%20excel.xls and print it in COLOR (not black & white), then fill it with computer, and bring it with you.

You can also send them an e-mail and ask for details, their e-mail is: yabancilar@iem.gov.tr
