QuestionI took 3 cycles of chlomid due to pcos to get pregnant and ended up with twins. Im wondering what the chances of having twins again are increased or the same. And what were the odds of having twins on chlomid? I just have the feeling of twins again (gotta prepare myself) Thank You!
AnswerI was told the increased chances of having twins on Clomid was 15%. Your odds should be pretty much the same if you go the same route. However, if you have PCOS, you may want to check with your doctor about using Glucophage (metformin) instead. Glucophage treats the root cause of PCOS, not only restoring your natural fertility but lowering insulin, lowering testosterone, lowering cholesterol, reducing facial hair, assisting in weight loss, reducing acne, and reducing hypoglycemia or Type II diabetes. It treats the entire spectrum of PCOS symptoms, not just the side effect of lost fertility, restoring your natural state of health. If you can successfully treat your PCOS with Glucophage, you will be able to get pregnant naturally (even accidentally!) without ANY increased risk of multiples. You may want to seek out the services of an endocrinologist, rather than a fertility specialist, as an endocrinologist will be more familiar with the broader aspects of PCOS and the use of Glucophage to treat it.
Personally speaking, I have been taking Glucophage at 1500mg/day ever since my triplets were a few months old. I have since had three singletons, one of whom was a surprise! I also saw my blood levels of insulin, testosterone, and cholesterol drop, and my weight stabilize at a lower level, all of which I hope will give me a better prospect of health as I age.
