About Kristin Expertise My husband and I have 5 children and 3 of them are triplets. We had so many questions the first year and continue to learn new things. I am willing to help anyone with questions on IVF, selective reduction, NICU, and preterm labor. And then there is the day you finally get the little ones home. We had some help the first months but then it was all us. We learned lots of tricks and found there are things that new parents of triplets need and that yu do not. Feel free to ask questions about nursing triplets, bottlefeeding, bathing, sleeping and just general child care questions. I will try my best to help you. I know how frustrating raising triplets can be but it is very rewarding too!

Question After finding out we were having triplets, and getting over the initial shock I am now ready to learn as much as I can about how to initially get started with them. i am only 3 mos pregnant right now, but very anxious as to how we are going to do this. My first question is how do you breast feed, or it possible. I wanted to breast feed for at least the first 6 weeks.
Answer First, congratulations on expecting triplets. I wish you a easy and uncomplicated pregnancy. The first thing that I would suggest is that you get signed up with the Triplet Connection. They will set you up with a expectant parent packet. This is a wonderful resource and a good way to connect with other parents of multiples in your area. Brestfeeding is very possible but requires some dedication. My triplets were born 6 weeks early and in the NICU for 3 weeks so I pumped every 3 hours after they were born. I froze it and took it to the NICU every visit and they always had plenty. When they came home, I breastfed two of them and Mattie did not nurse well so I pumped for her and fed her with a bottle. I would alternate sides with the ones I nursed and I got to where I would nurse them at the same time. I did it till they were 3 1/2 months and it went fairly well and I know it helped get them off to a good start. Everyone finds their own way that works best for them. Since they were in the NICU, they were also on a great schedule to where they would eat every 4 hours so that helped. I wish you the best of luck with your pregnancy, and if you have any more questions feel free to ask.
