AboutBill Russo Expertise My wife and I have successfully raised our triplets using volumes of self help and instructional books, but most of our success has come from within. We have been married since 1979. After 10 years of infertility (which was an education in and of itself) we have been students of high risk pregnancy, neonatal intensive care, nursery organizational skills, potty training, discipline, schooling, and most recently, Attention Deficit Disorder. We have lived in a city setting and rural suburb. We have had hired help and have done it alone. What I offer to you is the knowledge we have accumulated over the years.

Answer From fifth grade on, I enrolled my children in a private school, where smaller classes and a college prep atmosphere promised to give them a better education than the public school system offered. During the last year of middle school, our triplets began to develop into three distinctly different children. Our daughter blossomed into a devoted student with excellent study skills and dedication to her work that all her teachers praised. One of my sons was struggling daily to try, in vain, to keep up with the other students in his classes. My other son, while pursuing his social skills, gave up totally on his school work. By the middle of the school year it was obvious that this school, while perfect for my daughter, did not fill the requirements of the boys. It was time to address the needs of each individual and not consider the convenience for my wife and me of having all of them in the same school. The transition was difficult for the boys at first. One of them was enrolled in a large parochial school, plenty of activities and social opportunities, but strict discipline. For the other, we found a school which touts itself as a learning environment for the “reluctant learner.” Of course leaving your friends behind is never easy. No longer being one of “the Russo triplets” but now an individual was a risk, but we are all very happy with the decision.
