Question
I need help with an essay question.. According to their critics why were the policies of Hamilton, Adams, and the other Federalists a threat to young nation?

Answer
Hi Mitzy,

Many Americans saw the Federalist goal of a stronger central government as a real danger to their liberties.  Local governments directly elected were thought to be far more responsive to the people.  Large and powerful far away central governments would not necessarily be as responsive and could end up being just as injurious as the British Government was.

I hope this helps!
