Question
was Robert E Lee in this war

Answer
Hi Richard,

Yes, Lee was a Captain during the Mexican War.  He served as an aide to General Winfield Scott. Lee distinguished himself with bravery, reconnoitering lines of attack behind enemy lines.  He received a brevet promotion to Colonel during the war.  He was involved in the invasion of Mexico City, along with a young Lieutenant named Ulysses Grant.

I hope this helps!
