U.S. History/USA vs Mexico

Was the war the US had with Mexico in 1846 justified

Hi Riley,

This is a matter of opinion. But here are the choices: If you think that the United States had the right to go to war with Mexico in order to expand American territory at the expense of Mexico, then you could say that the war was justified.

If, however, you believe that no country is justified in starting a war just to conquer territory, and that peace is more important than who owns the land, then the war was not justified.

The historical record is clear that the United States provoked war with Mexico for the sole purpose of defeating Mexico, and then acquiring Mexican territory for incorporation into the US. In my own opinion, I don't think the war was justified.

I hope this helps!
