Subject: primaries

Question
After a primary election, how are the delegates divided up? Is it proportional or winner take all or what? And what happens to delegates who are committed to a candidate who later withdraws?

Thanks for your time,
Kevin

Answer
Hi Kevin,

I'll be glad to help with your question.

Yes, whoever wins the primary then gets all of the state's delegates. If a person who won the primary later withdraws, then the delegates are released to support another candidate.

I hope that this is helpful, Kevin. Let's see what happens in Michigan tonight!

Thank you,

Max
