I hold a AS from Eastern Conn. State Univ. and a BA from Trinity College, Hartford Ct. Plus 11 other professional certifications. I have received 31 awards for various activities. My writings published in ?The Other Voice? and other publications. I have had my original music published, licensed and recorded by David Kaye. I have been a guest on CyberRadio & TV and many other talk radio programs.
I welcome interviews and I am willing to act as a technical advisor to various media. I am single and have resided in Hartford, Ct. since 1976. I have no children. I am a political conservative with libertarian leanings. I am a registered Republican. I am a Roman Catholic. Question Paul
I just read an interesting statistic.It was in a back issue of the Globe and Mail,but my son,as luck would have it,used it to start a bonfire.
Apparently,over 70% of all African American births are out of wedlock,the highest rate in the world.
Is this a cultural thing based on African traditions,or is there another reason?
I suspected poverty,but the rates in poor countries eg. Brasil are low.
It's my own suspicion that the breakdown of the traditional family is responsible for many social ills.

Answer The stats correct. It has nothing to do with poverty.
ANYONE who stays in school, does not have kids without marrage, stay away drugs, booze and crime
can make a good life in the USA. You hear its racism but recent immigrants from Africa are far out pacing African Americans in terms of sucess.
Its started as an unintended consequence of LB Johnson's
Great Society Programs. Basically welfare programs gave benifits to single woman with children, and none married couples with a man in the house. This got agravated by drugs ,
gangs, hip hop gangster culture, removal of stigma for out of wedlock birth etc. Basically you have fathers walking away from thier children. Prior to 1964 out wedlock births were similar between blacks and whites.
Your right the break down of the family causes most the inner city crime problems.
