Question
Hi,
I am a club and private event(weddings, corporate parties) DJ who is interested in moving to the USVI. Is there a particular island that would be good for my profession? Are there many DJs already there? What do the locals do to find entertainment for events? I could also work a weekday job and DJ on weekends like I do here in Atlanta, GA. How much is cheap local rents for apts or rooms and are cheap places airconditioned?  Is crime a problem as I wouldnt want my expensive DJ equipment stolen.  Any idea what club and event DJs charge there?  I would need to buy a cheap used pick up to haul my gear and what would I expect to pay for one? Do they have Uhaul or small truck rentals available?  How hard and expensive is it to ship my existing vehicle down there? Do they have pro audio stores there for musicians and DJs to buy and repair equipment?
Thanks,
Steve

Answer
Hi again Steve-  Sorry I didn't see this question first.  We DO have a few DJ's here but I have no idea what they are paid.  I think only a handful of places have DJ's here.  These are small islands.  I would guess the same for St.Croix. St.John is the smallest and probably only have one or two DJ's at best.  There is crime anywhere in the world as you can expect.  To get a car/truck here, would probably cost in the ballpark of around $2,000.  I don't believe we have any pro audio stores.  Closest thing would be Radio Shack.  Again, I strongly suggest posing your questions on www.vimovingcenter.com.  There are a bunch of people there that can help answer these questions in more detail.  Best of luck to you Steve!
