Question
Hi I am a clerk in the hospital from NYC. My boyfriend is from Jamaica and we want to relocate to the VI. How hard is starting off and making make a living there?

Answer
Hi Yvette-

Not to discourage you, but keep in mind that the cost of living is pretty high here.  A gallon of regular gas is $4.25 and  electricity rates are higher here than anywhere else in the states (including Hawaii).  Also, the average small studio apt. without water or electricity will run you about $1,000/mo.  Anyway, with that in mind- since you are considering relocating, I HIGHLY suggest you check out the website www.vimovingcenter.com.  They are a valuable wealth of info for people wishing to move here.  They also have a very busy message board where you can pose all the questions you need to, in regards to relocating.  Best wishes to you and your boyfriend.  Happy Easter!

Regards,
Susie
